Veteran RB Devonta Freeman will be promoted to the 53-man roster while WR Marquise Brown (6 catches for 69 yards and a TD against the Raiders) is questionable. In other words: the non-existent running game will be complemented by a not that strong looking receiving corps and QB Lamar Jackson will have to put the team on his back.

Chiefs have won the past four games against the Ravens while head coach Andy Reid is 6-1 lifetime against them. Expect his magic to continue on Sunday night when you’re looking for NFL picks Week 2.

Cowboys @ Chargers – NFL Week 2 Predictions and Picks

Cowboys played tough against the defending Super Bowl champions Buccaneers but lost on a last-minute field goal. In the time since DE Randy Gregory tested positive for COVID-19, fellow DE DeMarcus Lawrence suffered a broken foot and will miss two months of action, and RT La’el Collins was slapped with a five-game suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. Safeties Donovan Wilson (groin) and Damontae Kazee were limited in practice all week and suddenly just a week into the season Cowboys found themselves in a very precarious situation.

The injury crisis is like music to Justin Herbert’s ears. Chargers' QB threw for 337 yards in the 20-16 win at WFT and now will face an extremely depleted Cowboys’ secondary. Yes, the Bolts had basically no running game against Washington with top rusher Austin Ekeler getting just 57 yards. But they may not need it on Sunday anyway.

Chargers lead the all-time series 6-5, winning the past three games. The line jumped from -1 to -3.5 in just 24 hours after Lawrence’s injury so I would advise not to touch the spread. But the money line is among the best NFL bets Week 2.

Week 2 of the NFL season is usually the week of overreactions. Eagles topped the hapless Falcons (32-6) and are the only NFC East team with a win. Lions picked up on his replacement Dontae Johnson and made the final score much closer than it should’ve been. Niners' depth will be tested on Sunday. In addition to Verrett the team lost RB Raheem Mostert to a season-ending knee injury and LB Dre Greenlaw underwent groin surgery that will sideline him for at least a month and a half. This pretty much explains all the betting action on the Eagles who opened the week as a 4.5-point underdog but climbed to 3-points by Wednesday.

Still, the Niners are the team to consider when you make your NFL picks Week 2. Kyle Shanahan’s plug-and-play system allowed rookie RB Elijah Mitchell to run for 104 yards in his debut against the Lions. CB Emmanuel Moseley should be ready to play on Sunday and DE Javon Kinlaw is expected to make his season debut. S Khari Willis ill and DE Kwity Paye is also questionable (hamstring).

Stafford was flawless against the Bears (20-for-26, 321 yards, 3 TDs, and a QB rating of 156.1). Look for him to do more of the same against the Colts. Rams’ problems playing in the Eastern time zone are well documented. But their roster is also stacked. Unlike the Colts. • Falcons @ Buccaneers (-12.5): Double digit spreads have no place in the NFL. But the Falcons were extremely terrible against the Eagles and look like the favorites for the top pick in next year’s draft. This seems the game to turn to for NFL Week 2 picks against the spread.
• Titans (+6) @ Seahawks: Titans laid an enormous egg against the Cardinals but AFC South is so bad it may not matter.

Thursday Night Football: Giants @ WFT - NFL Week 2 Predictions and Picks

Week 2 of the season marks the real return of Thursday Night Football which means sloppy football, tired-looking teams on short rest, and mostly bad product. The Washington Football Team will look to end its negative streak against the NY Giants and avoid an 0-2 start and this is an important factor when making NFL Week 2 predictions on the Thursday Night Football line. On Monday WFT placed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on IR with a hip injury. Taylor Heinicke, who a year ago was taking math classes at the Old Dominion before going back to the NFL, will start after going 11-of-15 for 122 yards and a TD in relief of Fitzpatrick on Sunday. Not known for flashy plays, Heinicke is expected to be more than serviceable in the weeks until Fitzpatrick returns. The other name on the injury report is RB Antonio Gibson, who suffered a shoulder injury against the Chargers but is expected to play.

Giants lost 13-27 at home to the Broncos after a last-second TD made the score much more respectable. QB Daniel Jones’s stats looked respectable (22-of-37 for 267 yards and a TD) but lost a fumble deep into Denver territory at the end of the third quarter that ended a promising drive. RB Saquon Barkley was held to just 26 yards on 10 carries bothered by a knee injury. He is expected to play but the WFT defense allowed just 90 yards on the ground last Sunday and should be able to shut down Giants’ backs. Included in the injury report estimation LB Cam Brown (hamstring), TE Evan Engram (calf) and G Shane Lemieux (knee) will all be game-time decisions for the G-men.

WFT has lost its last five games against the Giants including a 20-23 decision last October in the US capital. They are traveling to Buffalo in Week 3 and a second consecutive loss before facing the Bills will be a disaster. Since 2007 just 12 of 118 teams that started 0-2 have made the playoffs so the losers of Thursday will have the feeling of a death sentence.
