They are finally back under the spotlight. In just their second prime time of the 2021 NFL season the Arizona Cardinals can become the first team to secure a place in the playoffs. Yes, there are scenarios this week for Green Bay and Tampa Bay as well, but they are pretty unrealistic. While for the Cardinals everything is plain and simple: they win and they are in!
Arizona used the much needed bye week to get healthy. QB Kyler Murray wasn’t spectacular in his return from a month-long absence finishing 11-of-15 for 123 yards and 2 TDs in the 33-22 win against Chicago but he wasn’t forced to do much after the defense constantly gave him short fields to operate. It was just a nice and easy game to shake off the rust and get ready for the final stretch.
Entering Week 14 Arizona (10-2) is atop the NFC standings while LA (8-4) is fifth, holding a two-game advantage over the WFT and San Francisco. The Rams stopped a three-game losing streak last Sunday beating Jacksonville 37-7, shutting out the Jaguars after the break and limiting them to just 197 yards on offense. Which further proved the point that they are good against bad teams and bad against good teams. In 2021 LA is 2-3 against opponents with winning records and 6-0 against sub-.500 teams.
Both teams are relatively healthy. Rams’ center Bryan Allen is the most noticeable name missing while WR Cooper Kupp is dealing with a sore toe but is expected to play. For Arizona DT Zach Kerr is the only player who’s been held out of practice this week.
The Rams lead the all-time series 44-39-2. They were on an eight-game winning streak against the Cardinals until being demolished 37-20 in Week 4. Monday’s game may not be that one-sided but Arizona has the stage set for a statement and a chance to move closer to securing home field advantage in the playoffs. Feel confident if you select them in you NFL Week 14 picks straight up.
Our Expert NFL Pick for This Game: Cardinals Money Line (-132)
Two storied franchises will meet for the 102nd time but this rivalry has gone lackluster a long time ago. The Packers have won the last five meetings and on Sunday night nobody is expecting anything else.
As usual, lately the talk in Chicago is whether Matt Nagy will survive another week. According to reports, he was close to being fired after Detroit's Thanksgiving Day win. The 22-33 loss to the Cardinals (the final score is a lot closer than it should be) did nothing to put away the fire.
Justin Fields should start at QB for the Bears after Andy Dalton suffered a concussion a week ago. The rookie was bottled by the Packers in their previous meeting this season (a 24-14 Green Bay win) and there are no reasons to expect anything different on Sunday. As Aaron Rodgers is close to leaving Green Bay, this should be his final shot at the Bears to beat them and do it convincingly. That’s why we have this game as one of our NFL Week 14 picks against the spread.
Our Expert NFL Pick for This Game: Packers -12.5 (-105)
In the midst of a playoff push, two teams that are hanging for their playoff lives are facing one another. Cincinnati (7-5) are tied for 5th in the AFC, while the Niners (6-6) are 7th in the NFC standings and another loss would drop them out of the wild card spots.
The Niners were riding a three-game winning streak but were shut out after the interval, losing 30-23 in Seattle after QB Jimmy Garoppolo's fourth-and-goal pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage. The Niners not only lost the game but also the leader of their secondary CB Emmanuel Miseley. He was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain and will miss a couple of weeks of action. San Francisco should welcome back LB Fred Warner but Dre Greenlaw is questionable.
The real problem for San Francisco though is whether WR Deebo Samuel will play or not. He is the heart and soul of the Niners offense and his absence due to a groin injury against the Seahawks was evident. Whether someone will play on Sunday against Cincinnati is yet to be decided. He missed both practices this week and his status is questionable. For the Bengals the biggest concern is whether QB Joe Burrow will be able to play. He injured a finger in his throwing hand during the loss against the Chargers and all the reports whether he will be available against San Francisco on Sunday are contradictory. But anyway with the Niners depleted defense and with Cincinnati’s high scoring ability this may very well turn into a shootout.
Our Expert NFL Pick for This Game: Over 48.5 (-110)
Poor Bills just can’t catch a break. In a short week after playing in one of the windiest NFL games in recent history, Buffalo has to travel all the way to Tampa Bay to face defending Super Bowl champions. Last Sunday the Bucs beat Atlanta 30-17 and although it wasn’t pretty (Tom Brady threw a pick-six in the final seconds of the first half) they were efficient. Furthermore, they are still fighting for the home field advantage in the NFC playoffs which is another incentive for them to play on Sunday.
Bills are in the midst of a very rough patch of their schedule. In the past two weeks they faced the Colts and the Patriots and in two weeks time they will face the Patriots once again. They are still too good of a team to miss the playoffs and, with games against Atlanta, Carolina and the Jets to come, they should be able to hang on to one of the wild card spots. The only problem is that this is not the right time to face the Buccaneers.
Moreover, the Bills are the favorite team for Tom Brady to beat. The Tampa Bay quarterback has more wins against the Bills compared to all the other 31 teams in the league. No wonder we bet on the Buccaneers in one of our NFL Week 14 picks straight up.
Our Expert NFL Pick for This Game: Tampa Bay Money Line (-169)
All of a sudden, the fight for the NFC East title has gotten a little more interesting than it should be. After losing two of the last three games, the once runaway leaders Dallas Cowboys find themselves just two games ahead of the WFT with both teams facing each other twice until the end of the season. And the first of those meetings is on Sunday in the Capital City entering How To Bet’s list of Week 14 NFL picks.
The Cowboys ended the mini losing skid beating New Orleans 27-17, but once again they let a bad team hang in the game for too long. RB Tony Pollard, whose TD proved to be decisive for the outcome last Thursday, is going to be missed if he is unable to recover from a foot injury. He is yet to practice this week and his status for Sunday is doubtful.
At the same time, the WFT is raging hot after their bye week. They won four games in a row beating Tampa Bay, Carolina, Seattle, and Las Vegas. And last Sunday they beat the Raiders 17-15 even without running back J.D. McKissic and S Landon Collins. Both of them will be available for Sunday’s game and, apart from TE Logan Paul who suffered an ACL injury, WFT will be in full strength.
For a second week in a row our bet is against the Cowboys according to their ATS record. They started 7-0 but since then are 2-3, therefore our advice is to back the WFT.
Our Expert NFL Pick for This Game: WFT +4.5 (-110)
Week 14 of the NFL season kicks off with a game between teams with playoff aspirations but currently out of the wild card spots. Steelers (6-5-1) are half-a-game out of the seventh spot in the AFC. After two straight losses, the Vikings (5-7) are a game behind WFT and San Francisco fighting for the sixth and seventh spot in the NFC. A third straight loss would be a disaster for Minnesota but are they good to avoid it?
The Vikings are one of just two teams (along with Philadelphia) with a losing record but with a positive point differential. They have led by 7+ points in their first 11 games this season (on Sunday they led against the Lions by “just” six points) yet they always find a way to screw things at the end. Against the Niners, QB Kirk Cousins went for a snap under the right guard and had to burn a timeout in a critical moment in the fourth quarter before turning the ball over on downs. And on Sunday they became the first team to lose to the Lions in 51 weeks and, naturally, it happened on the last play of the game.
Pittsburgh stopped a short two-game losing streak beating Baltimore 10-29 but got lucky very lucky in the end. Going for a two-point conversion with 16 seconds to go Ravens QB Lamar Jackson missed a wide open TE Mark Andrews in the end zone. And so the Steelers need just two more wins to secure yet another non-losing season for the head coach Mike Tomlin.
Tomlin was once part of the Vikings staff before going to Pennsylvania in 2007. As Vikings’ HC Mike Zimmer was a defensive coordinator for the Bengals for six seasons, the two have a long history facing each other. Tomlin is 9-4 against Zimmer including a 26-9 victory over the Vikings in 2017.
Minnesota will be without RB Dalvin Cook and WR Adam Thielen. LBs Anthony Barr and Erick Kendricks are questionable after already missing the Detroit disaster. It’s too many injuries for a team that is 29th against the run and 29th on the ground. The line is in Vikings’ favor but that’s only because of the home field advantage. With a 3-2 record in Minneapolis that should barely matter on Thursday.
This game has all the makings of an under. But I’ll back the Steelers because of the Vikings’ inability to put away teams.
Our Expert NFL Pick for This Game: Steelers +3 (+100)
Let’s start with making clear that NFL expert picks are selected betting predictions made by people with a particularly high level of knowledge and experience in uncovering the best bets in the league. If you trust them, you will receive perfectly reasonable suggestions on how to bet on carefully picked number games that give you the highest chance of winning. By going this way, you will become part of the ever-growing number of punters that follow these selected NFL expert picks Week 14 has on offer.
There is another route you may follow, of course. You could decide to trust your own judgement when betting and you’d have a strong case for doing so. This way you are fully responsible for both winning and losing, so you won't hold a grudge against outer factors when failing. But there are so many reasons why the majority prefers the expert picks and considers them to be the art form of NFL betting. Here are the most important ones.
If you have decided in favor of following the experts’ advice with their special selection of NFL Week 14 predictions, your next job is to know and understand the specifics of the betting markets. The three most popular among football betting aficionados are:
All of them will for sure be offered to you by every online sportsbook, so let's look at each one and explain how they work. After that you’ll have a complete understanding of the matter and you’ll be 100% ready to explore the NFL Week 14 best bets.
The straight up or moneyline betting market is probably the simplest to understand. Here you will be offered odds about both of the teams involved in a NFL game and your only job is to wager on the team that you think will win. If your prediction is correct, your bet is a winning one and it will be settled at the odds you took. In short, when you see our NFL Week 14 picks straight up, you should be able to bet on them easily. Check the following example:
So let’s say you fancy Atlanta to win the NFL game against the favorite Carolina. You could bet on the Falcons at odds of +125 and a stake of $100 would therefore give you a profit of $125 if they succeed. On the other hand, you have to wager $145 on Carolina and the Panthers have to win the game for your profit to be $100. This is as straightforward an example as you would find and now you should be ready to take advantage of our NFL Week 14 picks straight up.
The reason why people look for NFL Week 14 picks against the spread is because the odds for the two teams in a particular game can be quite different. By trying to even them up, all sportsbooks offer point spread markets that impose an artificial handicap on the team in the role of the favorite. The spreads give the underdog team an equal and opposing advantage, and consequently the odds available tend to be much more balanced. Because of that, picks against the spread are in such demand. See this example:
|Las Vegas Raiders||+9.5||-110|
|Kansas City Chiefs||-9.5||-110|
Here you see Las Vegas being given an advantage of +9.5 points, while the favorite Kansas City have a handicap of -9.5 points. If you place a wager on the Chiefs, they will need to win by 10 points or more for you to succeed. Bet on the Raiders and you will only lose if they lose by 10 points or more. With these conditions in place, the sportsbook is able to offer even odds for both teams.
When turning to expert predictions, you will surely run across NFL Week 14 picks against the spread. Just wager on the named team in the point spread market and you’ll have your winning bet served on a plate if the pick is correct.
This is the third main betting market, so you will undoubtedly find many sources for NFL Week 14 over/under predictions. Here you only have one job: to predict whether the total number of points scored in the game by both teams combined will be Over or Under a total figure quoted by the sportsbook. Logically, that’s why this is also known as the Totals market. See the following example and you will get a grasp of the concept:
|Pittsburgh Steelers @ Minnesota Vikings||Over 44.5/Under 44.5||-110/-110|
The good news is that over/under betting is just as simple as moneyline betting. (Especially if you have access to free NFL expert picks for Week 14 to help guide you through the process.) In our example, all you have to do is decide whether you think there will be over or under 44.5 points scored in the game by both teams combined. If you go for Over, there would need to be 45 points or more for your wager to succeed. Go for Under and there would need to be 44 points or fewer for your bet to win.
